Indian Lake Title 1

About us

Title I is a federally funded program designed to improve educational opportunities.  The goal of the Title I program is to assist your child in developing and expanding the core academic areas taught in the classroom.  Note that these services are provided in addition to the regular instruction your child is receiving in the classroom. Your child will continue to receive Title I services as long as he/she demonstrates need in core curricular areas. When your child achieves grade level proficiency, they will be dismissed from Title I services.

What does Title 1 look like?

Your child will receive Title I support during his/her Team Time so they will not miss any core instruction.  Each grade level has at least a 50 minute block which occurs Monday through Thursday in each classroom.  During that time no NEW instruction occurs in the classroom, so that students that leave the classroom are not at a disadvantage.  During the Encore block a variety of things may happen:
  • Classroom teachers reteach old concepts
  • Classroom teachers enrich student learning.
  • Students who qualify, receive speech or language service
  • Title 1 students are pulled for math, reading, or a combination of both.

How do students qualify for title 1 reading support?

Students qualify for reading based on:

K-2:  The average of the most recent DIBELS percentile ranking, Star/SEL and teacher recommendation

3-5: The average of the 2 most recent STAR percentile scores and teacher recommendation.

All students are considered for eligibility:
Students scores are entered, and students receive a ranking based on their scores.
